The White House Gingerbread House Grows and Grows!
In the previous post, I noted that Mrs. Nixon initiated the tradition of the White House chef creating a gingerbread house to display during the holiday season. By 2006, the White House Gingerbread House had grown considerably. Chef Roland Mesnier is featured in the attached image with Laura Bush discussing the more than 300 pound house, which consisted of gingerbread and dark chocolate. That house was set in the State Dining Room. The second image is of the 2010 creation which replicated the White House and featured the first dog, “Bo”, in front of the 390 pound gingerbread and white chocolate mansion. This year’s gingerbread house, which is similar to the 2010 gingerbread house, is 420 pounds and is currently on display in the East Room.
Enjoy every day of this Christmas season!
